The role of the Competitions Director is to organise and run all competitions for the RMIT LSS and to organise RMIT’s participation in Intervarsity Competitions.
-Client Interview Competition held twice annually in the mid semester breaks, aimed at first years but open to all students
- Negotiations Competition
-In conjunction with the Publications officer, the Essay / Paper Presentation Competition culminating in a publication of shortlisted entrants
-Facilitate Moot training and other competition information/ training opportunities.
Where possible entering RMIT LSS teams in other University internal competitions like:
Marketing Director - Kayla Sharp
The Marketing Director ensures that the RMIT LSS is disseminating information to its members, to its sponsors and to the public at large. The Marketing Director is responsible maintaining the public image and brand of the RMIT LSS.
The key duties are;
The Publications Director is responsible for the annual publications, including compilation, printing and content. In conjunction with the President they are responsible for the sponsorship of the publications.
Events Director - Johannah Planche
Activities Director - Martha Arkalis
The Events Director is responsible for all major events hosted by the LSS.
These events include;
-The Intro to Law / First Year mixer (held on the second intro weekend of each semester)
- Welcome to VE events
-Careers and Clerkship guide Launch Party/ Law Symposium
-Law Ball or other events
-Awards Night (end of year function)
-Other Networking and social events as required
The IT Director is responsible for the facilitation and maintenance of information technology services for the RMIT LSS including;
The role of the Careers Director is to discover, facilitate and publicise information and career opportunities for the JD student body.
Key duties are:
Equity Director - Susie Alvarez-Vasquez
The Equity Director’s role has two somewhat separate areas. Firstly the Equity Director must advocate for equality in all activities and the RMIT LSS. This is not limited to gender, disability, ethnicity or religious belief but also to other equality issues facing the RMIT LSS, for example face to face versus OUA status.
The second role of the Equity Director is to liaise with and maintain a good working relationship with the Centre for Innovative Justice. Specifically to look for opportunities to work with and cross sponsor each other’s activities, to look for opportunities for RMIT JD Students to participate in and take advantage of the work and opportunities the CIJ provides.
The Education portfolio is to provide education opportunities to students, including Plain English Training and facilitating the Face to Face Sessions for each PLT Provider and uploading the Webinar content on the website

These officers represent the interests of our Vocational Education students, OUA students and First Year students and advocate on ways to make LSS competitions, activities and programs more accessible to our diverse student population.
