The CIJ will be offering this study tour in July 2015, some time before the teaching period commences (i.e. in the weeks before 20 July 2015).
We are doing a pre-tour planning trip in October this year to finalise the details, including the dates, but at this stage we expect that it will be about a week – 10 days long in Auckland and Wellington, and involve talking to judges and observing Youth, Mental Health, and Maori Justice courts, as well as restorative justice conferences and other interesting innovations.
For practical and logistical reasons we may need to cap student numbers at about 15, but again we’ll make a final decision on this once we’ve done the pre-planning trip later this year.
The only pre-requisite for students will be the Intro to Legal methods subject but it will count as an elective for the JD course - so mark your diaries, start saving your pennies and plan your leave now!
