FIRST NATIONS PORTFOLIO

the first nations portfolio promotes the interests of indigenous students within rmit - through events, workshops and advocacy

The First Nations portfolio was established to better connect the students to the LSS and GSBL. Generally, other portfolios will collaborate with the First Nations portfolio to ensure events or space better cater to the need of Indigenous students and are respectful and inclusive. It seeks to organise events which raise awareness for Indigenous related issues.

naidoc week '22

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year's theme - #getupstandupshowup - inspires all of us to advocate for institutional, structural, collaborative and cooperative change while celebrating those who have already driven and led change in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities over generations.
